Like a tiny bird
who builds its nest
in a deep and narrow branch

intoxicated, my right hand
sitting on my two palms
weaves countless dreams

the fingers that have played enough
building dreamhouses
on the land of my palms

fills its fists with dreams
and puts them on the eyes
like the one who plays with colour

years and years have passed
the red colour hasn’t faded
in spite of streams of tears

even the daylight fails to support
the dreams that still lie in eyes,
the night goes on…

ਜਿਉਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਿੱਕਾ ਪੰਛੀ ਜਾ ਕੇ
ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸੰਘਣੀ ਰੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ
ਇਕ ਆਲ੍ਹਣਾ ਪਾਏ

ਸੱਜਾ ਹੱਥ ਮੇਰਾ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਇਆ
ਉਹਦੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਤਲੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਾ
ਸੁਪਨੇ ਕਈ ਬਣਾਏ

ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਰੱਜ ਖੇਡੀਆਂ ਉਂਗਲਾਂ
ਤਲੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ
ਕਿਤਨੇ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਪਾਏ

ਫੇਰ ਜਿਵੇ ਕੋਈ ਅਲਤਾ ਖੇਡੇ,
ਮੁੱਠਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ
ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਲਾਏ

ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਬੀਤ ਗਏ,
ਰੰਗ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਖੁਰੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਅੱਥਰੂ ਆਏ

ਚਿੱਟਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਢੋਈ ਨਾ ਦੇਵੇ,
ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਖਲੋਤੇ ਸੁਪਨੇ
ਰਾਤ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਜਾਏ
